Verimpact was proud to participate in the Riding the Wave: Advancing the EU Ocean Pact through Science, Innovation and Cooperation conference in Ayia Napa, Cyprus, an official event of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2026.

Bringing together more than 300 participants from across Europe and the MENA region, the conference united policymakers, researchers, investors, innovators, and industry leaders to explore how science, innovation, and collaboration can accelerate the implementation of the EU Ocean Pact and strengthen Europe’s blue economy.

A key highlight was the keynote address by European Investment Bank Vice President Yannis Tsakiris, who emphasized the growing strategic importance of the blue economy for Europe’s competitiveness, resilience, and energy independence. Discussions throughout the event focused on scaling ocean innovation, unlocking investment opportunities, and building stronger partnerships across research, policy, and industry.
